Welfare, not work: cutting Canadian poverty

Poverty is often presented in popular discourse as an intractable problem. This couldn’t be further from the truth. With an expansion of the welfare state, poverty and its associated problems can be reduced to very low levels.

This paper discusses the problem of poverty and how to solve it, with an eye towards jurisdictions that have reduced poverty successfully. The paper also critiques alternative methods of reducing poverty.

This paper was written and designed by Oliver Mackenzie and was published on December 17, 2020.
